“What is happening in the ethers? Why is everything so intense right now?”
I’m hearing this from all directions. In the wake of March + April’s eclipse season, the Jupiter/Uranus conjuction in Taurus, Pluto’s retrograde shift for its finale in Capricorn later this year, and most recently, after the powerful geomagnetic storms giving us stunning auroras throughout the world in the last days — we seem to be feeling an intensity like never before.
In his 2006 book Chaos Point, systems theorist Ervin László wrote that we stand at a crossroads: on one hand lies a no-turning-back spiral into planetary collapse. On the other, lies a vision of humans thriving in connection with all of Earth, as a holistic civilization.
He outlined the concept of a “chaos window”, a critical window of opportunity, for global civilization to shift from a trajectory toward breakdown to one of breakthrough. Afterward, we’d find ourselves at a “chaos point” of no return, in motion toward the one or the other scenario.
With all that our world has been through since the start of the pandemic back in 2020— with the current chaos “peaks” of the war in Ukraine, the genocide in Gaza and so much more going on individually and collectively— I believe we find ourselves (still) inside of that blessed chaos window.
As much our millennia-long history of disconnection-from and exploitation of living systems, continues to pull us in the direction of breakdown — from forests to oceans, from animals to the most intimate ecosystem of our body-minds — we are also seeing the powerful change we are capable of as we take action together to steer humanity in the direction of breakthrough.
In his book, László explains how as a system’s state shifts closer toward the edge of chaos, its sensitivity to input increases, compared to a more stable system. In such an easily influenced state, small inputs, which otherwise would carry little impact, are now able alter the overall pattern of the system in far-reaching ways.
This can be the key to how we create the conditions for steering civilization toward thriving and prosperity on earth, and avoiding global societal collapse, if we each make the choice to make our most generative impact felt. In light of this model of the behavior of systems edging toward chaos, we each have more influence than ever, especially in the hyper-connected spaces we participate in online. Each one of us has the chance to be a local generator of creative possibility.
At the same time, this increased influence means we cannot afford to act as though we have no impact. Our actions, decisions, and above all, our imagination to create preferred incoming timelines give us more power than we sometimes realize.
How to make good use of this power? To navigate the oncoming chaos, I believe we’re also being asked to take our soul-life to a deeper level.
Viewing our collective crossroads from the soul level reveals many more dimensions of correspondence between the macro- and micro-levels of life, more places where we can shift, transmute, tweak, cleanse, purify and carry out the strongest energies for regeneration of life forward.
At the soul level, we are in direct communication with the sacred dimensions of wholeness in the Universe. We can feel the meaningful, creative story unfolding, the sacred play that we’re a part of. This is a very different relationship with our “script” than the inertia of our collective’s “business as usual”.
Engaging at this level starts with us reflecting on whether we’ve understood and embraced our role in the play. This is all about aligning with the deepest callings of our soul’s promptings, intuitions and desires. It’s about being stewards of our unique vibratory frequency, filling up our energy fields and bodies with the flavor, smell, taste, sound, touch of our multidimensional being.
While doing this doesn’t eliminate intensity from our lives, it puts us in the sweet spot of “being at the right place at the right time doing the right things”: surfing the waves of synchronicity instead of being pulled under with stress, confusion and overwhelm.
And it’s not just for ourselves: living in this way makes us pillars and anchors of wholeness and creative possibility in the collective field.
If you’re doing all this already: THANK YOU!!! Keep radiating the glow of soul into life. We need you, and we’re grateful for all the work you’ve done to get to where you are.
If you’re wanting to do more of this but you’re not sure how, one of the simplest ways to get oriented is to get to know your astrological birth chart’s nodal axis. Look at the sign and house of your North and South Node (a quick online search will give you sites where you can see your chart, such as astro.com. Cafe Astrology even has a North Node calculator).
Then, get to exploring the symbolic meaning of the placement of your nodes, which outlines the journey your soul is wanting to take from the familiar and over-done to the point of imbalance (South node) to the unfamiliar, but evolutionary edge of your North node.
I love to recommend Steven Forrest’s books for a deeper exploration on how to use our nodes to decode our soul’s path, and Jan Spiller’s Astrology for the Soul as well.
For those of you looking for more tailored support, I’d also be glad to help you attune to your soul’s unique path through 1:1 sessions: whether that’s through psychic reading, energy healing, or astrology-based holistic coaching. Feel free to contact me to see if we’re a good match.
